National Poker Week is almost here and the Poker Players Alliance has HUGE plans to take on Washington and lobby for the goal of legal online gambling. Many stars will be some of those taking place in hundreds of meetings wih congresspesons and charity poker events. Stars such as Annie Duke, Howard Lederer, Andy Bloch are said to be taking part.
The lobbying will be culminated with the delivery of a petition with over 350,000 signatures to President Obama. To clear poker’s name from anything bad there will also be a huge charity poker event. The proceeds from the event are set to go to the USO and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Personally, I think that this is a great idea and I hope it works. I want these 2006 laws against online gambling to be taken back. I understand the risks involved in letting children play poker with adults. This is something that I, along with the thousands of others, think can be taken care of.
