Gambling has been in the news recently for negative reasons. 3-time NBA All-Star Antoine Walker is yet another celebrity with gambling problems. Supposedly he owes 3 different Vegas casinos a combined $822,500 and is being taken to court for the fees.
On top of losing that much money gambling, it seems like he may not have enough to pay it all off. He has been accused of writing bad checks for $100,000 that won’t go through causing the casinos to bring upon these charges.
Earlier in the month, the Boston Globe reported that walker gambled away his $110 million in career earnings as well has items including his mother’s mansion but sources close to him have said that isn’t true.
Whether it is true or not, it’s clear that Walker has a gambling issue that needs to be dealt with and should have been dealt with long ago. I wish the best for him but since he is a famous athlete, good things can come from this. This event can open the eyes of many people in his situation who can now see how serious gambling can be.
