NBA star and international super star Allen Iverson is reported to have gambling and drinking issues. These announcements in an Philadelphia, USA newspaper are the latest problems in the downhill fall of one of the NBA’s greatest guards of all time. His career looks to be over, his wife filed for divorce, his child is very sick and now this.
I understand that we should stay out of his private life and leave him alone especially because he is going through such hard times but I just wanted to focus on the gambling issue because he is an international figure and it is important that others don’t follow in his footsteps and get gambling addiction problems.
The article said that Iverson is already banned from some casinos across the US and that he needs help wherever he can get it. The writer said he heard this information from multiple league sources but Iverson is saying other wise.
He admits he is going through hard times but says some of the things that have come out recently are made up. If he needs help I hope he gets it and I just wanted to bring this to the attention of the gambling fans across the world. Gambling is fun but we all just need to do it responsibly…
Now go win some money!

Gambling has been in the news recently for negative reasons. 3-time NBA All-Star Antoine Walker is yet another celebrity with gambling problems. Supposedly he owes 3 different Vegas casinos a combined $822,500 and is being taken to court for the fees.
On top of losing that much money gambling, it seems like he may not have enough to pay it all off. He has been accused of writing bad checks for $100,000 that won’t go through causing the casinos to bring upon these charges.
Earlier in the month, the Boston Globe reported that walker gambled away his $110 million in career earnings as well has items including his mother’s mansion but sources close to him have said that isn’t true.
Whether it is true or not, it’s clear that Walker has a gambling issue that needs to be dealt with and should have been dealt with long ago. I wish the best for him but since he is a famous athlete, good things can come from this. This event can open the eyes of many people in his situation who can now see how serious gambling can be. Have fun out there but be careful.

We all know gambling is no joke- that’s why it’s illegal in most places. We hear the stories, and sometimes even witness people gamble away all their money. Some people lose their friends, families and life because of gambling problems. That’s why we all need to remind ourselves that it needs to be done responsibly and that it’s just a small hobby (for most people). One eye opening statistic these days is the increasing amount of high school students and teenagers gambling illegally.
For years I’ve been hearing stories like this. In a high school near my area, the kids used to play poker in the back of the classrooms, at lunch, in study periods, and on the bus. One boy lost so much money that he couldn’t pay it all off. His parents went to the school and asked them to step in and end this problem.
This article I read about teenagers in Jamaica gambling shows that the problem is all over the world. A study in the article showed that 1 in 5 Jamaican teens are problem gamblers or are at risk of becoming one. That is incredible and I think the rest of the world should take a look at their children that may gamble.
Gambling is fun and exciting when done responsibility. Adults know more about how to handle their money and this is something children probably haven’t learned yet. Take time to talk to kids about the risks.
